⚖️ Who Needs a PrDP & Why It’s Required by Law
In terms of the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996), anyone who drives certain vehicles professionally — for reward, or to transport goods or passengers as part of their job — must hold a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) in addition to their normal driving licence. Driving without the correct PrDP is an offence and can result in fines, and may invalidate insurance.
🚚 Category “P” – Passengers
Required if you carry passengers for reward — for example taxi, bus, shuttle and e-hailing drivers, or any vehicle designed to carry more than the prescribed number of people.
📦 Category “G” – Goods
Required to drive a goods vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) over 3 500 kg — for example trucks, delivery and freight vehicles used for transporting goods.
⚠️ Category “D” – Dangerous Goods
Required to transport dangerous or hazardous goods — such as fuel, chemicals or explosives. This is the highest category and includes the requirements of category G.
General requirements: you must be at least 18 (21 for dangerous goods), hold a valid licence for the vehicle class, and pass a medical examination. Not sure which category applies to you? Ask us — we’ll point you in the right direction.
📜 How it Works
- Email us your registration form, copy of ID and proof of payment to get started.
- We then handle your E-Natis online pre-booking.
- We notify you of the appointment date.
- On the day, we collect and take you to the Testing Centre to complete the application.
Keep 1–3 hours open on the day of your appointment.

- 📍 We collect in Pretoria or Centurion only.
- 👤 Client must be present in person at the Testing Centre.
- 🕐 Waiting period for your new licence card is 6–8 weeks.
- You must collect the card yourself — we do not collect it on your behalf.
- A temporary PrDP can be applied for after ~2 weeks once your Police Clearance is successful — we do not assist with this.

Can I get a temporary PrDP?
A temporary PrDP can be applied for after roughly 2 weeks once your Police Clearance is successful. Please note we do not assist with this part.
