How long is a refresher lesson?
Each lesson is a full hour of one-on-one driving time. We come to your address in Pretoria or Centurion, so none of your lesson time is wasted on travel.
I haven’t driven in 10, 15, even 20 years. Is that too long?
No. We regularly work with drivers who haven’t touched a steering wheel in over a decade. Your first lesson starts with a gentle assessment in a quiet area — no traffic, no pressure — and we build from there at your pace. The skills come back faster than you expect; it’s the confidence that takes a few sessions, and that’s exactly what we’re here for.
Am I too old for refresher lessons?
Never. We’ve helped drivers in their 50s, 60s and beyond get back on the road. Age isn’t the issue — practice is. If anything, older drivers tend to be more careful and make excellent students.
Will I be judged for needing this?
No. Our instructors specialise in nervous and returning drivers — this is what we do every day. There are no stupid questions, no sighing, no eye-rolling. If you need to do the same traffic circle ten times, we’ll do it ten times.
Do lessons happen in your car or mine?
Lessons take place in our training vehicle, which is fitted with dual controls — your instructor can brake or assist at any moment, so you’re never on your own. If you’d prefer to practise in your own car so you get comfortable with the vehicle you’ll actually drive, just ask and we’ll arrange it.
Your car is manual but I drive an automatic. Will the lesson still help me?
Yes. Skills like observation, lane changes, highway merging, parking and defensive driving transfer directly to an automatic. If clutch work isn’t relevant to you, we simply skip it and spend the time on what matters to you. You’re also welcome to book the lesson in your own automatic — we come to you either way.
What if I panic during the lesson?
That’s exactly why you’re with an instructor and not alone. All our vehicles have dual controls, so your instructor can take over braking instantly if needed. We start in quiet streets and only move to busier roads when you say you’re ready. You set the pace — always.
Will this affect my licence in any way?
Not at all. Refresher lessons are private coaching. Nothing is reported to the traffic department, nothing goes on any record, and your licence is never at risk. You already passed — this is just practice.
How many lessons will I need?
Most returning drivers feel a real difference after 3–5 lessons. Severely anxious drivers might want 8–10. But there’s no package and no commitment — book one lesson, see how it feels, and decide from there. Many clients are surprised how quickly it comes back.
Can we focus on just one thing, like highways or parking?
Absolutely. If parallel parking is your only problem, we’ll spend the whole lesson on parallel parking. Highway merging, night driving, traffic circles, driving in the rain — you tell us the fear, we build the lesson around it.
Can a family member come along in the back seat?
Yes, if it helps you feel comfortable. Many clients prefer privacy, but if having your spouse or adult child along puts you at ease, they’re welcome.
